Taking it with you

whenever i love something i buy (and i only buy what i love), i secretly wish it will last forever - this is silly and impractical and i do fall in love with new things, of course, so i will find a new replacement when the time comes, but initially, i do view each new item as the bestest ever and something i will want forever.

if you had had to pick one item never to replace and wear forever (this is hypothetical, so let's say that cleanliness and weather and the thing falling apart are not factors - just focus on sheer repetition)...

what would you pick?

Definitely my Cartier tank watch. I feel naked without a watch and I'm not a bling-y person who craves expensive jewelry. I lean more toward the funky/crafty in my other accesories, so this is a departure. Aside from its sentimental value-it was a gift from my husband-I love its classic look, and with minor upkeep it should last forever.

very smart, going with the watch. i think i would choose a cardigan - problem is, i haven't found the perfect one yet. yet.

i have this perfect red-orange felt beret with a spotted feather that i am still in love with, that i have been since day one. i found it in a thirft store, wasn't sure about buying it, i never wore hats, but it was only $5. best purchase ever, still. the sun has faded the color a bit but you can find me saying that if i had to give up everything in my wardrobe except one thing, it'd definitely be this hat. it's irreplacable, i've never seen anything like it.

My shearling coat, which I think has been the answer to a couple other of your queries. I'm hoping it will outlive me.

I have a pair of slim (not skinny) black pants/jeans. That have a magicaly perfect fit, and they are from Forever 21 of all places. And I love them. I could live my life in those pants.

For me, Midnight it's a thrifted vintage Valentino navy wool jacket with the most exsquisite interior seams I've ever seen. The jacket is so unique and so perfect that I can't imagine not having it.

Hmm. Good question since I've started editing my closet and being quite brutal. I had a garage sale recently and sold theory skirts, DKNY stuff, Dooney & Burke purses and the list goes on for $2 each. Just to get rid of them.
I love my Hogan sandals for their absolute comfort and incredible style, and really love my knee length Burberry skirt. I do agree though a good watch is a keeper.

A watch is a save pick. You don't have to worry about when was the last time you wore it, unless you are in a Swatch Poetry Members Club. I would have to say it's my Prince of Wales vest i bought two months ago. I'm finding myslef wanting to wear it for every outing! Especialy with my t's. it makes me want to look for new friends and new events to attend, so this way i can wear it more. I should be looking for some more vests, or my new piece... maybe some sneakers, vintage wing tips, a casio data bank or a wallet/key chain... but please... shhh not a word to my vest... it tends to be jealous.

tough question. i might have to say my marc jacobs hudson bag. i've used it so much that the handle and zippers are starting to wear a little and somehow i just don't have the heart to replace it yet!
