Deconstructionist diet

the beauty standards are too unattainable, the clothes too expensive, the shoes too dangerous. people grumble about fashion being inaccessible. they feel excluded, cannot identify with the ideal customer for the brand.
in reality, all well-financed fashion houses make sure that there is something for everyone with an appetite. accessories, bags, scarves, jewelry, sunglasses and makeup are major business, and major treats for customers, tiny tastes of the big fat frosted cake.

what crumb are you most susceptible to sampling?

Fragrance.

I'm definitely most interested in the clothes, never the makeup or perfume or glasses. I do love bags though. I'd wear the above McQueen looks (budget allowing), but of course not styled like the runway.

Fragrance and sunglasses just seem to happen by accident - I like what I like and then there is a label on the side of what i like, and that links it to a larger brand/identity buuu-uuut, the truth is that if the label attached to what I like belongs to a brand that I adore, I am that much more likely to purchase, and, the fipside is that if the label attached to what I like belongs to a brand that I loathe and/or disapprove of... I will skip the purchase.

Shoes!

Definitely never make-up- holds no interest for me.

Bags are always attractive but way too fussy for me ( I have a reliable bag that I carry in almost all situations)

Sunglasses. If feel that when I purchase a pair of Dior Homme shades I'm helping finance the shows that inspire me. :) And I sprayed Eau Noire on my wrists back in November and I havent stopped thinking about it since.

Fragrance and makeup for sure. I feel like fragrance is a worthy investment because classic scents don't really go out of style and it's a very subtle thing to put on and usually something you can keep to yourself and bask in that knowledge. And since I was probably 11 I've been a sucker for pricey cosmetics--I'd save my lunch money for weeks for something I'd seen in one of my mom's beauty magazines.

for me, it happens to have been fragrance and shoes. fragrance, because i happened to have liked the smells of some (not all) of my favorite designer lines. (mcqueen was my first "fave" designer but his perfumes have not worked on me!) shoes because i've had good access to designer shoes at a discounted price that i can afford. but i will admit, i have tried all of mcqueen's perfumes multiple times in the hope that they will "click" with me... :-(
