Finish line

while i've been making an effort to keep a tube of lipstick on me, if i'm running out the door with breakfast in hand, i don't put any on until i've finished eating my bagelcrumpetenglishmuffin. i don't carry any other supplies with me, other than a small tube of aquaphor, so if i want any perfume on, or dirt (it's the name of the product) in my hair, i had better remember to use it before i leave the house. typically i'm done doing whatever i'm going to do by the time i'm fully dressed and am ready to make breakfast - with the exception of the lipstick. that is the last thing to go on just before or soon after i walk out the door. or while waiting on a corner for the light to change. but i have been trying to remember to do it before i interact with people.

first thing after getting up? just before you leave? in the elevator/car? at the street corner? on the train? at your desk? sometime around lunch?
at what point are you done getting ready for the day?

I wake up at the crack of dawn and don't actually leave for work until 8 am or so, so my morning getting-ready routine is spread out over at least 2 hours. However, once I'm out the door, there's no more adjustments to outfit/ appearance. However I look at that point will probably as good as it will get for the rest of the work week.
I do have a tube of lipstick at work for re-applying throughout the day but I rarely do it...

Same here. Once I leave the house I'm ready for the day, no matter what. Though I have a ridiculous habit of repacking my bag when I'm sitting at the bus stop, spilling the contents of my bag for the world to see.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a nightowl...

I wake up about noon, eat, shower, get dressed, then do my makeup and hair, all before I leave for the class or wherever. It helps that I usually have at least a good hour to do everything.

I take at least a lip gloss with me, but I rarely think to reapply it. On my long day, I might bring some other makeup, mostly eye shadow, to touch up before my evening class.

Now, when I'm traveling more than a few hours, I bring my makeup with me and start applying it about 10 minutes or so before our ETA (while my husband drives, of course).

by the time i walk out the door. Im done. I dont have an extensive "beauty" routine. i curl my eyelashes, lip balm if i remember (but thats a take it/leave it), my hair is wash, put it up, and go, but then i may take it down mid afternoon. but that's more of an adjustment than getting ready.

I'm as done as I'm gonna be when I leave the house, but I apply some sort of lip balm/gloss/color about 300 times a day.

When I was commuting I saw it all. The most interesting had to be the girl who was applying polish to her boyfriends nails. Or maybe the woman who HAD HER NEKKID FOOT UP ON THE POLE in the subway and was polishing her toes. Oh yes she did!

Interesting question! I would have said before I leave but thinking it over I will run out to the convenience store of a morning and I always feel it doesn't "count." Though I'm not going anywhere much different at a later point. I guess it counts when I decide it counts.
How fickle is that.

wow, all those questions. around "on the train", i kind of forgot what the main point was, and (with my oft gutter mind) i started to think the question was about...where does one have sex?

um.

well aren't you the nosy one! prying into my personal life like this. but i digress. first thing after getting up is drinking a glass of water. after all, one can't be beautiful without being hydrated. ;) lip balm is the last thing before i leave. if i end up eating breakfast on the bus, then i usually apply another coat of lip balm before i get to work. and when i get to work, i'll usually take a peek in the bathroom mirror to make sure there's no crud in the corner of my eyes.

i do my makeup (lipstick + powder, sometimes a bit of concealer) on my morning commute, which is usually via casual carpool, i.e. riding in a stranger's car. that's pretty weird, huh? i've come up with certain rules about what's ok and what's not ok. for example, i try to sit in the back, because i think doing my makeup in the back is ok but in the front it's a little more sketchy.

however, sometimes while sitting in the front seat i will feel ok pulling out my lipstick at the last minute. and then sometimes, since my powder mirror is my lipstick mirror, i will push the boundary and blot on a bit of that too. but i always feel very self-conscious about it... which i should, right? i probably shouldn't be doing it in someone else's car! when i end up taking the train (on which i feel comfortable doing all of the above plus sometimes a bit of eyeliner), i feel as though people are looking at me funny. which i think is ridiculous.

but, i have never done my eyeliner in someone else's car. ok no i did do it once. but we were stuck in traffic, i was in the back, and i was really quick with it.... does that make it ok? :-)

ps. hi editor! i've been gone for a long while. life-stuff momentarily sucked me in, but i'm back. now i will have to go read/comment on some more of your posts.

dreamecho - oh my, this is not that kind of blog. ;)
first thing for me too is a glass of water!

a. if i were giving you a ride, i think i would like having you primp next to me (front or backseat). i always get a cozy feeling when i see women doing this, and i don't know why. maybe because it's an honest, vulnerable moment.
