Inspiration

i've always really liked knots. i like bows sometimes, but knots, always.
i think it's the combination of decorative yet masculine/neutral.
it's also one of those form and function balances that i love.

I still want this girl's ring

I've always loved knots too. There's a line of necklaces (the name escapes me now) that are all different types of knots, cast in metals.

I love knots, it's a classic, every spring/summer I buy t-shirts with that motive, and I am not tired of them!

candid - that ring looks decidedly like the image for the "anya hindmarch" brand.

iheartfashion - that sounds cool. i think i would rather just one of these big fat raw ropes though. happy birthday by the way!

atelier - i wonder if it's a seasonal thing for me...perhaps this raw rope style - so great as a belt, or to balance a breezy top, as a necklace. but i have fun knotting ties and scarves all fall/winter too.
i love what comme des garcon has done in the past with knotting fabric.

This reminds me of my grandma. She always wears her hair up in a bun and calls it a topknot. There are two clips she wears with it: one is plain metal for every day, the other has pearls on it, for church and going to town. She has been recognized by her hair any times over the years.

The other day she taught me how to properly tie a knot in the end of a thread. It is a neat trick. I could make a video of it if you are curious, since it is hard to explain but easy to do.

"Form and function" - great phrase I've always loved things that balanced both beauty and functionality. Why should the two be mutually exclusive? (This is why I hate the crazy shoe trend.)

I love a good carrick bend, or sheet bend. Knots are beautiful.
