Inspiration

ribbons!!! my ideal accessory (as jewelry, a belt, on a camisole strap, around a hat...).
i received a birthday gift tied with such a beautiful ribbon. a thin satin ribbon, long enough to wear in my hair, or as a necklace, or wrapped around my wrist 5 or 6 time. the color is perfect. i wore it all day and now i keep it in a special box. i will buy a few more colors now for myself. i am going to wear ribbon every day i think.

Whenever my students tell me they intend to add some (bought) ribbon to their designs I always advise them to make the ribbon themselves. Personally I find readymade ribbon too synthetic and accessible (aka perfect). But I love the idea of precious scraps of fabric; one of my most precious scraps is a piece about 3ins by 16ins of salmon pink cotton sari fabric with fraying edges. I wear it as a necklace with a black dress. I love the tribal style of it.

I remember when I was younger, I use to always have them in my hair.

Ribbons are very sweet and you are like a little gift wrapped by the pretty ribbon, sooooooo sweet! I love that colour so much - a great and vibrant neutral tone!

A great idea. I really like the way you tied this around and around your list.

One of my 'things' is to use real ribbon on packages, it lifts both the wrapping and the gift.
Do you have a Mokuba shop in your city? A source for high-quality ribbon and trims in superb colours.

I do this often, in my hair and, with a plain white dress I have, I wear a black velvet ribbon tied a few times around the waist.

Problem with the bracelet idea though is -- how do you tie the bow with one hand? Enlist a helper, I suppose.

I love the idea of wearing a ribbon as an accessory! This one looks beautiful with the white shirt. It's simple and clean and elegant. I might try this tomorrow!

This is the perfect accessory for you -- the thoughtfulness it takes to tie it on neatly, the time it takes, the delicacy of the ribbon like the intricacies of your mind...I can totally see the up and down town heroine wearing it. ;)

Or maybe she has...? (Haven't been there in a while! Time to rectify that situation.)
