Key component

the ring went back and a dress arrived. happy happy feeling. this dress is having a peculiar effect on my accessories, essentially reviving them. it's one of those items, this dress, that makes you want to experiment with different ways to wear it, and try it with all of your shoes.

which would you rather have, a spectacular new head-to-toe outfit (that, for the sake of argument, can't interact with anything else you own, and must be worn exclusively as an outfit), or a new item that would revive your existing wardrobe?

the latter, DEFINITELY. i mean, obviously the fact that i could combine it with much of what i already have in my closet means that the net result is many more outfits than just the one new outfit. and it's all about more outfits right?

I think I would go for the whole new outfit, as long as I could choose every component of it. Most of my separates end up as set outfits anyway, so why not treat myself?

A new item that would revive my existing wardrobe. I can never stand to have "outfits," because I don't like limits. I like to mix and match.

I'm happy to hear you like your dress! :)

A new item that I could mix and match with. no doubt about it. I don't do whole, complete outfits.

Whenever I buy something I think about how it could work with things I already own. So I'd definitely pick the latter too.

my instinct is the auxiliary item, but i think really the whole fantastic outfit would make me happier.

Definitely the complete outfit. I tend to think in those terms anyway.

key item. i've learned it's more fun to spark a fundamental shift than recreate from scratch. especially now that i'm old enough to be in my "groove" style-wise.

the reviver. as long as I could spend lots of money on it and have it forever, hello haute couture!

New item that revives. I love my wardrobe but sometimes need to see it with fresh eyes. A new item can do that better than a whole new outfit, for me.
