Odd

odd that i am having as hard a time packing for a 3 day trip this week as i did for my 3 week trip last month. the restriction of limited space/needs confounds me in a different way than the need for an optimum selection of variety did.

why?

because u have less to pack so each item you pack has to pack more pow

(try to say that 5x times) ;)

both scenarios require you to dive into the unknown, and to leave behind the security of the "whole palette". one requires more options ,one requires less, but in a more "edited" way.

You have to separate the significant few from the less significant many.

Hope you'll tell us what made the cull.

If it were me ... it would be because I know I should pack "lightly" for such a short trip, but would prefer to have options. It's hard to pack options without lugging a massive suitcase around.

Cuz you're overthinking it, perhaps. Are you going to a city? Will you be shopping? If yes, bring toiletries, pjs, underwear, the outfit you leave in, and extra pair of shoes (good for walking) and a couple of Ts. Then buy yourself whatever catches your eye in the new locale. It's fun, a great way to build memories of your vacay and EASY!

Otherwise, pjs, 3 tops, 2 bottoms, 2 shoes, toiletries, underwear (I go a bit crazy with that) and maybe some nice thing to wear out to dinner. Oh, and definitely bring a cardigan. It will look right with everything and shield you from inclement weather.

Who knows? I'm wondering why you don't take the exact same items again? Or is that the question of a smart@ss?

because it requires committing to a specific look in a future that is unknown? and by "unknown" i mean you can't be certain of the weather, how you will feel that morning, etc.

but i have to say, i just did a short stint in ny ny, and wore all but one items i brought!

let go of your fear. if you have to repeat, the repeat.
