Where to begin

if you had a choice, would you rather a store organize its merchandise from lowest to highest price, or the other way around (highest to lowest), in terms of what order you encounter the items in the store?

Probably higher to lower, to get the hard part out of the way. Shock first, then relax once I see the lower prices.

In my reverie, I got so carried away that I forgot to ask what you'd prefer. Which would you prefer?

Hmm...I don't think I care either way. I'd go through the entire store anyways.

I feel compelled to look at EVERY SINGLE ITEM in a store (which is why I tend to shop alone), so either way would be fine. But I'm probably more likely to buy when I see the high prices first. It's that "Neiman Marcus Effect", where you become conditioned to all the $2000 sweaters and then see one for $500 and think "oooh, only $500, what a bargain!"

I'm with enc - I'd rather start posh, end budget.
